Hey there everyone!!
I just got back to California after teaching for a year in Korea. I feel extremely lucky to have this opportunity put in front of me. You may ask, “Did I ever picture myself in Korea?” I never thought this option would be available for me. All of my previous work experience was in the kitchen; I was a cook in various restaurants. I have never done any teaching before this, I was going to sink or swim when I first arrived. I’d like to think that with the help of my co-workers and friends, I’ve been able to swim up to this point.
Let me try to sum up my year in Korea briefly for you. I have been living stress free, yes; I know that is hard to believe. I don’t have to worry about the little things that always come up at home. I’m not worried about filling up my gas tank, will I get more hours at work, or how I will make my car payment. I feel free here, and have met some amazing people along the journey. Everyone is in the same predicament as you, everyone left their family, friends, and things they are comfortable with. I think it is a really awesome feeling to meet people from England, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada at any moment. If you have the travel bug, then this is the place for you to run free. For all those sports lovers out there like myself, you need not worry; you can still keep up with them as much as you did at home. Shoot me a message if you want more details on that. Making the plunge to Korea doesn’t seem easy, but let me tell you, it is an experience of a lifetime.
There isn’t another job that I could save the amount of money that I have done in Korea. I have lots of debt from traveling all over Europe and from college. I always knew that I liked children, never thought I would end up teaching them. I have learned a lot, experienced new things, and eaten some awesome food while doing it. I would say that anyone looking for a change, a life changing experience, or wanting to learn about a new culture, then this is the place for you. I was lucky enough to have been recruited by the people from www.Asknow.ca, and cannot thank them enough for giving me this opportunity. It is truly something that I will never forget. Thanks for taking the time to check this out, look forward to hearing how Korea has been treating you so far.
