So, the steps to obtaining an EPIK position are listed below. Please read through this page carefully and watch all of the videos to ensure the best chance of being chosen. (Continue all the way to the bottom to get all of the details)

Application Procedure

1. Download the forms here:

2. Completely fill in the application form following the step-by-step instructions in the explanation form. EPIK will penalize us for any forms that are not filled by following the guidelines. We will discard any applications that are not filled out completely and thoroughly. Please fill it out right the first time and double-check everything. There are hundreds of applicants and we will only work with those who show great attention to detail.

3. Send an email to us with the application info including:

-Subject: EPIK Application for "Your name" (ex. EPIK Application for Jason Cresswell)
-email: [email protected]
-3 Attachments: Completed application form, 2 letters of reference (if available. If you are waiting for the letters of reference, first send in the application form so we can do our pre-screening with you.)

Additional for Seoul: Seoul Attachment form with Lesson Plan (please have this all in one file, not two separate files)

4. We will email you with a request for interview and you will choose the time you are available. You will have a 30 minute phone conversation with one of our staff to completely go over your EPIK application form and get you prepared for the EPIK interview and confirm all information on your application.

5. Obtain 2 original letters of reference that meet these guidelines and scan them:

-Must be from employment or academic source (no friends/family/co-workers)
-Must be on official letterhead
-Must be no older than 2 years
-Should be addressed "To Whom it May Concern" or to "EPIK". (can NOT be to ASK Now)
-Must be .jpg or .pdf format
-Must have standard contact info (name, telephone, email, address)
-IMPORTANT: Must be a scan of original (not a picture). Must have original ink signature. If you are hired, the original with real ink signature must be sent. You will NOT GET A JOB if you send a different letter or if it does not have an original ink signature. No tracing over! No electronic signatures. No exceptions.
-If you are currently working in Korea or have since 2009, you MUST have a letter of recommendation from current or former employer in Korea (Korean or English).

IMPORTANT: The jobs are on a first-come/first-served basis and there are many applicants who are already applying. Please fill in your application form asap and send it and have your letters of reference ready asap too.

Seoul Applicants: Please only apply for Seoul if you have excellent qualifications/teaching experience. They are going to be extremely selective so if you are not quite ready for this, you might be better off applying for the other positions.

Tips on Getting Chosen for a Job

1. Be as open as possible for location. If you are open to jobs in smaller cities/provinces, your chances are better as there is less competition.

2. Start getting your docs ready asap. These positions are first-come first-served based on applicants who get their docs in after passing the interview. Visit our visa page to start getting things ready.

3. Get a 100 hour TESOL if you don't have one. Last semester, only a very small percentage of people at the lower level of the scale got passed the interview stage. EPIK absolutely wants people who are qualified. ASK Now-ETO WILL NOT submit applicants that don't meet Level 2 (or for Seoul, Level G). You can start the course now and still be considered a Level 2 applicant if you show proof of enrolment. You just have to finish the course before you arrive in Korea.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How many openings are there?
A. There are close to 900 openings through EPIK for Spring 2011.

2. Am I guaranteed a job?
A. No, we can't guarantee a job. However, we can say that if you follow the instructions exactly, are at least a Level 2, and are flexible on location, your chances are very, very high of getting placed. ASK Now has been very successful at preparing our applicants for the EPIK process, thus a high percentage of our applicants pass the interview and subsequently obtain employment through EPIK.

3. Can I get a job in X city?
A. You will have 5 choices on your application form. If you get your docs sent quickly after passing the interview, there is a good chance that you will end up in one of your top city choices. For Seoul applicants: You can first try for Seoul and if you don't get in, you can list other cities on the application in order of preference.

4. Do I have to pay for my own flight?
A. All public school boards require that the teacher pay for the flight and then reimburse the teacher upon arrival. You will be given an entry allowance of 1.3 million KRW to cover the cost of your transportation to Korea within 30 days of arriving.

5. When do I find out if I have a job?
A. First, you must pass the EPIK interview. Then, you must send in the complete documents. Then, you will receive the Notice of Appointment to confirm your position.

6. Do I have to send my original diploma?
A. No, you must send a notarized copy. For Canadians, it must be notarized by your local Korean Consulate. For all other countries, it must be first notarized and then you must obtain an Apostille. EPIK will not accept original degrees.
